PISGAH RIDGE HIKE, WED., JUNE 12, HAS BEEN CHANGED

June 10, 2019

Trail conditions on the Pisgah Ridge hike are unsafe due to extensive rain. I will be substituting Bent Creek: Lake Powhatan to Little Hickory Top – 8 miles, 1200' ascent. NOTE NEW MEETUP LOCATION: Asheville Outlet lot behind Waffle House off Exit 33 of I-26, departing at 8:30 a.m. Look for my red Honda CR-V. My cell is 240-604-5000. We will hike to Four Points in Bent Creek; good footing; mostly wide trails; some nearby creeks, but no panoramic views. Ascending via Hardtime Connector to Homestead around Lake Powhatan to Campground Connector to Boyd Branch; then a steep ascent to Little Hickory Top. Descending via Ingles Field Gap to Ledford Branch to Wolf Branch to Deer Lake. Type: Loop. Max elev: 3000’. Avg moving pace: 2.7 mph. Difficulty (1=effortless, 10=hard): 5.5. Trailhead: Rice Pinnacle parking lot. Directions from Waffle House (3.2 miles): Left (south) on NC-191 Brevard Rd for 1.7 miles; right on Bent Creek Ranch Rd for 0.3 miles; left at fork onto Wesley Branch Rd for 1.2 miles; right on Rice Pinnacle Rd to park. Est. return to Waffle House: 12:45 p.m. (I will re-post the Pisgah Ridge hike as a Carolina Mountain Meetup for Tuesday, July 2, 2019.)
