WHAT WE DO

Carolina Mountain Club is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to encouraging and supporting hiking in the Southern Appalachians. We maintain over 440 miles of trails, including sections of the Appalachian Trail and Mountains-to-Sea Trail, lead more than 200 hikes each year, and work with partners to protect our region’s natural resources.

We fulfill our mission by:

  • Maintaining high-quality trails for long-term sustainability.

  • Offering welcoming group hikes for all skill levels.

  • Collaborating with partners to conserve trail systems and surrounding ecosystems.

  • Promoting safety and preparedness for volunteers and the hiking community.

  • Strengthening leadership and governance for long-term stability.

  • Building visibility and participation through marketing and outreach.

  • Engaging and retaining members through meaningful connection.
